Chickasaw State Forest, State Park, and WMA

Site Directions to State Park: From I-40 take either exit 82-A to Hwy. 45 South or 80-A (which is 45 South by-pass) to Hwy. 45 South and from there drive 20 miles to Henderson, TN. Turn right on Hwy. 100 and from there it is approximately 8 miles to the park entrance.
Access to the WMA and State Forest is available via various roads in the area. See maps for more information.

Site Description: The area includes a variety of recreational opportunities including hiking, birding, camping/overnight cabins, swimming and fishing. Mixed hardwood and pine forests cover the majority of the site, providing a variety of habitats across the rolling hills.

Wildlife to Watch: Woodland birding is generally good year round. Look for Canada Geese and Great Blue Herons on the lake. White-breasted Nuthatch and other forest birds are common year round. Red-eyed Vireo, Wood Thrush, Ovenbird, and Eastern Wood Pewee may be found in summer. Keep your eyes open for box turtles on hiking trails and sliders in the lake.
