Narrows of the Harpeth State Historic Area

Site Directions
From I-40 in Nashville, take McCrory Lane (Exit 192) and travel north to US 70. Travel west several miles, through Pegram, and make a right on Cedar Hill Rd. The turn is east of the Harpeth River bridge. Go 2.7 miles and turn left into boat launch and trailhead, a bearing left 0.2 miles later.

Site Description: Canoe access and wildlife viewing on the Harpeth river. A short hiking trail goes up the hillside and provide spectacular views of the valley. On spring and summer weekends, canoe and hiker traffic can be excessive.

Wildlife to Watch: The waters of the Harpeth River support a high diversity of wildlife. Wildlife can be viewed well from a canoe, which acts as a blind. Barred Owls, Belted Kingfishers, water snakes, and various mammals can be seen. The area can be very exciting birding during spring and fall migration. In spring, the rich floodplain provides ample wildflowers for viewing and photography.
